We have covered purchase price, insurance and running costs. This is because it’s reasonable to assume that most new drivers are quite young and budget conscious. However, that also means that they probably fall into one of two gender-centric categories.

Young men are usually looking for something sporty with which they can impress their friends, and young ladies are usually looking for something “cute and friendly looking”. Of course, these are horrifically generalised stereotypes and we fully understand that not everybody falls into these categories. But there are many opportunities with budget conscious buyers to still get vehicles which fit the bill as a good used car for new drivers. Small low running costs cars can often be found with sporty body styling which do not add much in terms of purchase price and nothing in terms of running costs.

And even though we live in a rural location on Anglesey, a small city car with exceptionally low running costs and purchase price can make a very good first used car for young ladies. These often have very cute looks, especially when purchased in vibrant colour schemes.
